FE all moved to red a year or so back from blue. That was mainly marketing guys saying red was the best colour for money. Interesting F1 has went the other way.
Thoughts on the huge airbox on the Alpine? Apparently they've moved some radiators up there to slim the sidepods. Can't imagine that's good for a low centre of gravity but maybe its offset by improved floor performance
Obviously the great great grandson of the Ligier JS5. My guess ithat relative to the batteries, engine block and gearbox the radiators they've put up there weigh bugger all. On top of that any increase in centre of gravity will be cancelled out by the increase in downforce they hope to get out of it. It is nice to see a car with middle age spread though...
So sad to hear about the passing of Murray Walker. He, for me, was the voice and enthusiasm of Formula 1. RIP Murray.
Same cars as last year, still stuck indoors...mercades winning the campionship easily despite discovering gremlins in testing
Thinking is rehoming the cooling etc in the upper works allows for a greater undercut so the air into the diffuser will be more effective.
So three days of testing over. The Merclaren looks very good, they've got new engines, a tricky diffuser nobody else thought of and the car's been looking absolutely planted through medium and fast corners. I'm sure I've heard that before somewhere... The Red Bull looks very good, Perez looks like he's been there for years. Ferrari have made a big power jump, but still look like they will be in the middle of the middle. Aston Martin, Alpha Tauri and Alpine look good. The Mercedes looks like a pig into medium speed corners, very unstable through direction changes. No doubt Merc will bring a whole new car to race one and stomp everyone, again. Williams and Sauber Romeo both seem to have made big jumps in performance, but it also looks like enough to bring them closer to the back not into the middle. It's going to be a very long year for Schumacher jnr. I hope he does enough to persuade Ferrari to give him a Sauber next year. Mazepin remains a c##t.
I wonder if that new floor concept isn't quite working for Merc. Aston Martin has a similar concept but less aggressive. Autosport suggested the McLaren rear extended the strakes on the diffuser. They found a loophole that allowed the center ones to be extended thus sealing airflow at the back
Palmer is as unlikable as a commentator as he was a driver. Someone messaged them to say "can we still have an hour and a half of commentry even though practive is now just 1 hour?". His reply was "err, no. can't be bothered. lol" What. A. Tw@
Anyone else signed up for F1 fantasy racers? (its free) https://www.fantasyracers.com/general/mainpage.php Team: Neoooooowwww! Drivers: Gasly, Norris, Perez, Ricciardo, Schumacher Looking at the HAAS' speed I might need to swap Mick out sooner rather than later.
Im expecting Haas to be dead last this year and after testing and fp1 im wondering if theyll be far enough behind Williams a calendar will be required rather than a stopwatch. Williams could be a dark horse this year...if their prediction that their car is peaky and goes well at the occasional track there is the possibility one of their drivers will get something
