Best race of the season up the swanny then. Yeah bit daft that isnt it , why run the Para's if things are out of hand on the covid front.
It’s more due to quarantine rules they forced all athelete to quarantine, assume it’s same for para olympics formula 1 refuses to allow this
Too late to cancel Paralympics, the athletes will already have arrived in the country anyway and tens of thousands of staff and media will not have gone home between the Olympics and Paralympics.
that was a heck of a Quali Vettel sounded genuinly pissed off on the radio, after calling for a Red Flag, then hearing about Norris accident.... it was also nice of him to stop the car to check Norris was ok, and sit alongside for a few seconds till the medical car arrived
Well this is exciting... Spoiler: SPOILER George Russell's infamous terrbile luck had to pay back sooner or later, now he's just 'finished' second, in a Williams, by barely driving a lap. What a mindf##k.
Well , not sure what to say about that. Im sure there are a ton of reasons why the race couldnt be rolled over to Monday but i would of loved to of seen George up the front with the big boys.
Can't believe they called that a race. No racing occurred, shouldn't be any points handed out for a procession, or makes it 3,2,1 points for 1,2,3 like the sprint quali at most. Domenicali basically saying that spectators won't get a refund, but 'might' get some compensation. If there's no refunds I'd want to see the drivers dig deep and make it happen, they all think it should.
I dunno, you cant control the weather and it was never dry enough to race so what other choice was there. I suspect the 2 laps behind the safety car was a cynical move but ultimately I think its better for some points to be dished out even if based on quali.
No you cant , but i agree for once with what Hamilton said , they have enough high tech equipment to know whats going to happen with the weather. Agree spectators need a refund or some sensible compensation for having to deal with that.
They could have run down the clock behind the Safety Car, while that would have provided some more laps it wouldn't have provided any racing, so yep... they didn't have any good options.
As much as I find Russel getting a podium brilliant, I do think declaring the result a 'race' was completely the wrong decision. Once it was obvious that the race wouldn't happen they should have just called it like it was and awarded no points. I don't know when they apparently changed the rules but it used to be 25% race distance for half points to be awarded. As much as those in charge might like to try and say otherwise, refunds are inevitable, there was no need to try and insult everyone's intelligence in the process. On a related note, fastest lap to Nikita Mazepin. Because it wasn't enough of a mindf##k already.
