    Lib Dem here.

Labour are mad, and the Tories are swinging too hard to the right - especially over Brexit.

Unfortunately it won't make any difference as I live in Tory stronghold... but nevermind!

I enjoy the doorstep callers so I can tell them I won't be voting in this election, wait for the explanation of why it's so important to vote (for their party), let them prattle on for a bit whilst nodding and looking interested, and then explain that it's all very interesting but I'm still not voting on account of being a foreign national.

It was especially good for the UKIP ones last time around,

Reminds me of a mate of mine confusing some chuggers...

Chugger: Will you donate to our cause?
Mate: Sorry, I don't give money to foreign charities...
    Chugger: b.. but.. we're a British charity...
Mate: You might be, but I'm not...

My mum always told me that, not that this thread was going turn sour but to never discuss religion and politics. :)

I'm voting labour. It isn't because I believe in all of their policies. I just strongly dislike Conservatives and what they stand for. My priorities are more in line with Lib Dems, but I know it's a wasted vote, especially in my area.

Unfortunately with Corbyn in charge I simply cannot put an x next to Labour.

Well according to this poll, which is from a very varied section of UK society, it's going to be a Labour landslide.

We can dream, although Labour actually in charge is almost as much of a terrifying prospect as the Tories.

It really makes no bloody difference what I put down. I'm in a stupidly safe conservative seat in Surrey and due to our first past the post system my vote has never, and will never count... other than as a pitifully quiet protest.

I don't think asking people from such a niche group as us nerdlings and geeketes is terribly varied. Plus we keep a good atmosphere going here, the forums are full of genuinely good people who aren't here to troll others, spread hate or just hang around for one-up-manship or personal gain. I'd say that atmosphere by its very nature would have a low % conservative/UKIP/BNP.

Before the (currently 6) conservative voters flame me for linking them with UKIP & BNP... I'm sure you don't think your vote will directly affect the lives of people more unfortunate than yourselves. I'm sure you personally don't support the horrid impact the conservative cuts have had on some. Nope, it's not you doing this. You're one of the good ones. You don't like how May chums up to trump. You don't support rich folks killing foxes. You don't support nurses having to use food banks to be able to eat. You don't support us selling arms to dictators.... and yet you won't vote to stop any of this.

Sorry for the rant. Which fool started a political thread? I'm going to climb back into my hole and hang my 'Do not disturb - I hate the human race' sign up again.

    I don't vote anymore.

I know - many people have died to allow us the right to vote, but they had people worth following.

The current state of our leadership caste (probably fuelled by a media machine that ought to be destroyed and rebuilt as something of integrity), is a sad state, and when the right for our freedom was being literally fought over, I doubt this is what those fighting for had in mind.

That fool would be me, but I did say in my first post that there's another thread for discussion and disembowelment haha :p :D

But I agree wholeheartedly -- it's kinda sad that the picture we're getting here is one that depicts the people as powerless, despite being part of a (supposedly) democratic society.

If the Lib Demd hadn't jumped into bed with the tories a few elections ago they might actually have had a chance in this election. Instead we have two clueless basket case parties duking it out to see which is the least unelectable.

The problem politics has (well, the biggest problem...), is that this is how it works:

Politician A: "If you put politician B in charge, you will lose your job, your house and your future!"

Politician B: "If you let politician A run the country, we will face hardships not seen since *insert date of last time politician A's party had some bother*!"

And this goes all the way down to politicians C, D, E, F.... You get the picture. This means the logical conclusion we can come to is, everything is up the brown pipe, regardless of who we vote for and who is in charge. Because that's what everyone is saying.

Now, if politics worked like this:

Party A: "We think party B has some good ideas, but here's why we think our approach can take those ideas and make them work a little better..."

Party B: "I agree with party A on X, Y and Z, but I think if we do things a little different, the benefits can be even greater"

At least then, us voters will have a bit of a brighter outlook and be encouraged to look at the differences in manifestos and why they might/might not work. But no, they will continue to beat their chests, shout over each other and generally act like the running of the country is the same as the running of the school playground.

100% this. That and he'll reduce the Defence budget to the equivalent of my childhood pocket money and render the continuous at-sea nuclear deterrent pointless with his statement that he'd never use it.

    Aaaaaaand Diane Abbot....
