Build Advice Bitcoin mining

    Been doing a little bit of reading and was thinking of putting together something for bitcoin mining, is there any advice on what the best bang for buck hardware is ?

    ASICs. Easily the best bang for buck.

    ASICs and then amd cards. As Kirk46 said there is a huge thread in the software section. From people on the bitcoin exchanges it seems that a lot of people are moving on to litecoin mining (a different crypto-currency) as it doesn't have any ASICs making it harder for normal computers to mine.

    difficulty is really ramping up - have noticed quite a big slow down over the last few weeks on my rig :(

    i am mining LTC now :)

    the difficult has just gone down for LTC too :)

    also the ASIC are very hard to come by, with BFL only just started shipping the jalapeno but no 'customer' has said they have received there order yet

    and the avlons are selling for £30,000 :eek: they will make you £10,000 a month tho :lol:

    Not directly. But you can get them exchanged for money, and then spend them in Tesco.

    Bitcoin mining is not worth the cost hassle in the uk at least.

    All the coins are in the hands of early adapters. The price also fluxs alot.

    Litecoin mining on the other hand is pretty viable.

    I actually read up a little on bitcoins and watched some vids a year ago but I've never actually tried it.
