Hello, everybody, be welcome to my first project log here on bit-tech! I want to show a case-mod on the Corsair Crystal 570X RGB case. Who already knows my recent approach to modding, can expect some scale-model details, and yes, this is what I will add here, again. This time the details will be scaled 1:220, which is Z-gauge scale.

The theme "industrial" will be shown literally, it is about to feature industrial buildings and a railroad track, lets see, how I can balance this out with the PC-hardware.

    industrialDSC05039.jpg

The planned specs are rather down to earth, I won´t go crazy with "hottest Hardware atm", but my choice is reasonable for a server and storage PC, what is the planned usage for it in the end.

    Set specs so far:

    CPU: I7 6700K
    GPU: Sapphire R9 290X 8GB
    Mainboard: Asus Deluxe Z170

The rest is mainly still to be decided by Corsair, who are processing my request atm.
The case already arrived, and was standing in line, while my entry for this years Cooler Master CMWS, "The Cosmopolitan" was in process.

After taking a short break, mainly to attend fairs, now it has fullest attention.

Time to strip it down and turn it, which is the first step of the Case-modding: front becomes bottom, nothing over the top, but this will bring a nice tension to hardware presentation inside the project.

    What are the planned work-steps:
+Complete color change from Black to metal tone, by air-brush and leaf-silver application
    +Implementing the scale models
+installation of the scaled rail-track (function is planned)
+new design of the new top (former rear side)
+installation of premium liquid-cooling-loop with Alphacool International parts, always nice to use parts of the company working for.

    Liquid-cooling specs:

Pump: DDC 3,25, 18W with Alphacool (NEW and yet unreleased) Eisdecke pump-top, clear
Res: Alphacool Cape Corp metal/chrome 250mm with UV cathode insert
CPU-block: Alphacool XPX clear with RGB-ring/ chrome
    GPU-block: GPX-a 290 M08, silver finish
tubing: 13/10 brass tubes with brass-tube special Alphacool Eiszapfen series fittings in chrome (surpirse!)
liquid: Alphacool Eiswasser crystal clear/ UV
    RGB strips: Alphacool Aurora 60cm

    industrialDSC05067.jpg industrialDSC05071.jpg

The first case-make-over is the application of leaf-silver:

I will keep this project log updated of course! Hope you are interested in seeing more, best greets and mod on!!

Oh interesting, this was a theme (model trains and miniature buildings) i toyed with doing for my current case mod (before I settled on a Star Wars theme)... will be interesting to see what you do :)

Hi, birdie, thanks for your comment, well, tbh, for me, too--the details come rather from the go, I have plenty of building already built here, but it will be all a matter of balance with the hardware, it fastly can look too much stuffed, so atm I am still eager to proceed with the Case modification at all, and can´t wait for mounting the track for the train, hehe

....meanwhile I worked on the case looks, the leaf-silver application is finished and laque-sealed, and the bit uneven look of it brings the industrial touch of raw, I wanted. Next to this I prepared the last scale model parts for assembly.

I've had to draw up a couple of designs for one of these cases. It'll be interesting to see what you do to it. -Well, It's already interesting. Will you move the front/base glass to the top/back?

The top will be a combination of the stock PSU shroud to cover the I/O section and a bit more of industrial diorama.
Here a detail finished- some branding and weathering still to come:
    industrialindustrialP_20181004_231853.jpg

here a look on the color-scheme of the case as well

..well the next step is to make-over a polarizing cooler: the Alphacool GPX series maybe has as many friends as critics- to say it straight forward- I always liked the edgy design. This cooler here was result of sending my Sapphire R9 290X 8gb to Alphacool, where it was scanned in order to drawing this cooler-design from it. In return I was given one out of the first series as thank, an initiative, that Alphacool is still practizing. Funnliy, I think for this project theme, it really fits just perfectly.
With sand-blasting and partially re-painting it with very thin airbrush coating in chrome, it now looks like this:

The Z 170 ASUS Deluxe got some color changes of I/O cover and the heatsinks have been sand-blasted and detailed. Time for a test fit... on the one hand, I ofc always do so, because I can´t wait :) and on the other hand, to spot the tasks that I have not realized before, e.g. to lack off the back side of the front dust filter

After a few days off, it is now time to talk about the missing specs. As mentioned above, the first idea was Corsair would put more hardware next to the case, but this did not work for them in the end, which can always happen.
So here are the final specs, missing yet:

    Samsung EVO 850 M.2 500GB
    Samsung 500 GB SSD
    G.Skill Trident Z DDR4 RAM 32 GB
    some HDD yet unchosen

On fans I happily have the opportunity to work with Alphacool´s recent Eiszyklon RGB frame-ring fans and the Eismatrix RGB/ fan-controller, that comfortably is to be controlled via mobile app and I think they will look great inside the project:

...after taking a break from modding due to rl demands, here is some update on the project :)

First of all I gathered some new sponsors for the project: Seasonic and Patriot/ Viper Gaming stepped up- thank you very much!
Seasonic sent me the FOCUS+ Gold 1000W PSU, which will make a sweet heart to the project!

so, the picture watermark has changed:
    The Cosmopolitanindustrialnew24-11-2018.jpg
So, in order to hiding the PSU cables, I printed out some shroud, and also leaf-silver-plated it. With some shortened Alphacool Aurora Eislicht RGB it looks like this:

    The CosmopolitanThe CosmopolitanDSC0512325-11-201825-11-2018.jpg

I also made some progress with the interior construction, so now the radiator-fan-based midplate is at place, resting on some customly printed "steel-beams". A test fit of the train track and a first arrangement of the buildings was possible:

    The CosmopolitanindustrialDSC0511224-11-201824-11-2018.jpg

Finally, I finished the water-cooling loop by brass/ chrome 13/10 mm pre- bend 90° angle pieces:

That's the best use of those oval wire pass-throughs EVER.
It might be a good idea to open up that base panel where you can to get some air to the fans. It would look neat too.
