Okay, so I'm playing black ops single player and I've died like a dozen times in a row as I can't find the right friggin' shadows to hide in. I'm following the Russian dude out of the ship container, take out the first guy with his tomahawk, hide under the roof, hide at the end of the next container... and then get spotted as my Russian friend seems to pick the only bit of shadow that is capable of hiding in - Even though his head is lit up like a christmas tree This is really pissing me off, the AI is terrible at this point as no matter where I am (even 100% out of sight to everyone) I get spotted. So given that I have to play this on the rails they set out for me. Where exactly should I stand? I've even tried rushing in, I can grab a gun and if the goons don't get me the gunship always does.
just stay on Reznov's ass. don't bother trying to find your own hiding spot because you'll just get spotted.
I'm stuck with the same problem. I stick to his ass but he just randomly yells "You've been spotted!" when I really haven't. If I just stand still, nothing happens. The helicopter seems to freeze in space (I haven't looked around to see what actually happens to it, but sound-wise it seems like it's not moving), no soldiers show up and Reznov just stands around looking spectacularly stupid. Then I try to do my own thing, finding shadows while soldiers aren't looking and that sort of thing. No luck there either. Weird level. EDIT: I get picked off at the same spot as Guinevere. Standing behind Reznov at the building while his face is right in a blindingly bright shaft of light. Heck, it even happens to me when he's there and I'm not.
I'll try again I've tried sitting on his arse, I could smell every one of that guys farts I was so close. I'll try again when I next fire the game up. Crappy logic & AI in this level, everything else up to then was okay though
Had the same problem, got it figured out : Spoiler You need to actually go directly and kill the bad guy (notice the "objective marker" on the target, not reznov)
Yep, worked that one out and finished the game. All in all not a bad game, now to get my ass kicked in online.
I figured it out by doing what g3n3tix said. What was strange was that the objective marker jumped to the enemy guard and then right back to Reznov (complete with the little "Follow" above his head). Very, very buggy game. I'm not even going to bother with multiplayer.
Buggy? I played through the entire SP campaign and didn't find a single "Bug". I think the logic on the level in question is a bit suspect, but once you know what to do it's fine. I've also not seen any bugs in MP or in either Zombie game (I quite like dead ops arcade). I've not played Zork so I can't comment on whether that's a faithful port and bug free experience. What bugs have you seen?
Environment bugs mainly. A fair few situations where the game would not progress beyond a point, LOTS of freezing/hanging/crashing, some AI bugs (both enemy and friendly AI spazzing out).
Playing this just made me realise how good the campaigns IW wrote were. AFAIK they didn't use a single respawning enemy and it was always obvious what to do. In half the other games I've played neither of these are the case.
quote for the mofu truth? only managed to complete the game by reading this thread. there are zero plan to play it on veteran difficulty, it's so frustrating. story feels well told though, complex but not pretty well laid out.
That's pretty bad, I've not seen anything like that at all. Was this on the PC? Via a steam patched game?
Sorry, I was just being 4channy It's "Quoted For The Mother F***ing Truth" I'm was planning to have a go with Veteran as well but I've shelved that. Worst $60 I ever spent, and I thought MW2 was bad. MW2 might have been short but it was well put together, no bugs. Really, nothing wrong with it except the length. I feel terribly guilty for being bitchy about it after paying for CODBLOPS. Yep, PC/Steam. Very disappointing.
Something definitely not right there then. As my install runs like a dream, smooth as butter, no lag and not spotted a single bug. Win7 x64, i7 920, 6GB, Nvidia 285, everything patched to latest stable drivers. Even the "AI glitch" I started the thread about now makes sense in the context of the story arc. It would be a spoiler to say any more but those that have played to the end will know what I mean.
