Has anyone seen this movie? I just watched it again after seeing it in theaters. One of the best movies I have seen in a very long time.
I thought it was pretty boring myself. Just a 2hr shootout, no real charector development or back story to the wider conflict.
i saw it fairly recently when it was on tv. I hadnt seen it for a long time and i still really like it although i remembered it to be a little bit better then it was. love this scene just for the tracer fire
I did enjoy this movie even if it was a bit of an american propoganda 'we never leave our men behind' sort of movie. Yes its is a 2hr shoot out but i've played FPS games for more than 2 hours and i enjoy that to. If you're in the mood for lots of explosions and bullets flying around then this is a good movie to watch.
Blackhawk Down was OK. Jarhead was a much better war movie, though I'm not sure many people understood what it was really about. -monkey
It's a good film, but the whole "we still win" attitude of the film annoys me. They didn't. Nice action scenes though. [edit] Jarhead was an awesome film, very noir for a lot of people I think.
I like this film but i do enjoy mill sim games like airsoft so like most of the airsofters i know this is a brilliant film.
The truly amazing thing about this film is just how much of the action was CGI - both Blackhawk crashes were mainly CGI'd - especially the second one. The external shots where the helo is spinning out of control and hits hard and then topples over and slides towards the camera was all CGI'd onto a pre-shot background plate. They had tried to do it with a full scale wire rig but they couldn't make it spin (it had lost the tail rotor so the fuselage will spin in the opposite direction to the main rotor) so they kept the impacts that the rig made on the buildings on the way down and when it hit the ground but digitally removed the rig and dropped the CGI'd crash in - even the chair in the left corner was CGI! Personally I thought the effects for this film were simply superb, they even beefed up the number of choppers they had available ( I think it was four Blackhawks in total, not sure how many Little Birds they had) by CGI to make the numbers more realistic. On the whole I think it was a fairly good represenation of what happened, things really did go that badly wrong on the raid. Sure there was a bit of artistic license involved, can anyone tell me any true story film that doesn't?
At least it's the one Middle East war-themed film that did it remotely right. You don't need to be up-your-ass, Grammy-anal about plot and characters; what are you honestly expecting from a group of grunts on the battlefield? The movie had good audio, though.
Movie was good, from what i remeber, but it could be cuase i play scenario paintball. :X? ___ Jar head was an amazing movie, and a great book also.
I thought it was a good movie, though I was surprised at how low the US bodycount was at the end - they must've shown each one a few times from several angles.
