you could have jiggled a loose connection, jiggled being a techincal term for well. jiggling. It might have been enough if the PS was a ittle loopy to make it pop...

Yeah whos to say what might have been shorted, I doubt that it had anything to do specifically with the light, there are soooooo many traces, sawder points, capacitors, etc on mobos that very likely there was a very small bridge gapped by your jostling of the wires, jostling being a technical term for jiggling.

Yeah. But aren't these power supplies designed to be "fault tolerant". It should shut itself down if there is a problem. I may have mentioned here. The ps I'm using now one time appeared to get "shorted" from one of the 4-pin molex connectors discharging on my metal side panel as I put it on. The ps shut itself off. I pushed the cables back and put the side panel on and turned it on no prob.

Maybe like what was said, it could have been a bad power supply, maybe the extra load. Since I can' tbe certain I think I'm just going to return the light and not try to do any light modding for a little while

One other thing I learned is that since my life revolves around my computer (plus it's the only TV I have - tv card), I should have a spare just in case something happens to this one :).

Anyone have an older p3 motherboard/cpu combo they want to sell? :)

A power supply ALWAYS shuts down if you short something out. You just had a dodgy supply - I'd send it back if I was you.

Even my crappy 300 watt supply shuts down if it's shorted :D

SOB Antec, I bought this PS so that kind of thing wouldn't happen! Ugh.

Well, I bought it at newegg a couple weeks ago, so I just RMA'd it. I expect they'll just send me a new one.

Maybe they should change the name from Antec TrueBlue to Antec TrueBLEW! :)

My computer does still work, Pranks. I left it on all night running the 3dMark demo just to satisfy my paranoid about whether something was damaged. I consider myself very lucky! This equipment cost me a forturne. At least for my budget.

enermax > antec, at least in my experiences. btw, if you want to save a few bucks, its really easy to swap the psu fans. mine is also packing clear blue led fans, but it didnt come that way :)
