Rant Bloody fireworks

I know it's that night, but theres kids (about 14ish) running about out the back of my flat playing chicken with rockets - lighting them and seeing who lets go first! They kept going till 2am this morning, and have been blasting away solidly for the last 5 hours.

Why can't they ban the damn things for general sale - to put it blatantly, all the kids up my way are running about with explosives!

Speaking as someone who lives in a state where they've been banned, I assure you it would achieve nothing. People just drive to the nearest state where sale is still legal and cart hundreds of the things back with them.

Yes you can.

Just use the same system as they do with guns. Get a license, THEN you can buy fireworks.

Alcohol and drugs don't blow peoples hands off, I'd be all for it if they just blew the crap out of the morons playing with them but it affects others. At least get rid of those whistley ones that do nothing except make that awful noise and then explode, I've already have one of those pelt off the window tonight.

 

Fireworks are banned within Houston, Texas, city limits. People just drive a few minutes down the road, buy them, then drive back into town. I don't mind, though, because people generally only light them on proper occasions (4th of July, New Year's Eve, etc...).

Yep, Im in the UK. Surely if the government were to ban the public sale of fireworks, and sell only to organised displays where a licence would be required, we would probably see an increase in professionally organised displays, allowing people to see plenty of fireworks, without the danger to the public, and without kids running about the streets throwing rockets at each other.

Why ban them? If the people are being stupid with fireworks then they'll get what's coming to them. People in the UK seem obsessed with banning anything they don't like when it usually allows the stupid to hurt themselves. Pen tops anyone?

The woman who lives downstairs from me had a firework lit and pushed through her letterbox last night - she has a 4 year old daughter. Did she get what was coming to her?

The sad fact is that the immaturity of the kids playing with fireworks causes as much, if not more, harm to others than to themselves.

 

A couple kids were throwing crackers outside the other night at 3am.. Roommates and I grabbed some bottle rockets and started shooting them off at them, they left fairly quickly

You could say this about ANYTHING, a drunk person grabbed a knife and stabbed someone, a smoking addict attacked a shop assistant because he didn't have any money for fags.

Get real, because some twats do things, doesn't mean the 40m people of the UK or whatever it is has to suffer because of them.

 

get some fire crackers, the ones that give a loud bang.. And drop them from your flat next/onto them.. Just keep dropping them and tell them to sodd off..

Back on topic. I have heard one display this evening, and thats it, its been silent ever since, so im pretty happy.

Look at it this way:

Some [LIFTED] is dicking around with fireworks. Odds are he is going to do himself an injury, make himself less attractive (most burns victims do not make for good eye candy), and thus remove himself from the gene pool.

It is just natural selection, dear fellow.
