Just had a Hercules C130 fly over the garden. It was about 150ft up. So pretty bl**dy low. And there was a small light aircraft only another 300ish feet above it flying perpendicular to it!!
cargo version I presume. It didn't look to have any cannons out the side. Wish I'd got some pics. Just heard this bloody loud thing approaching, went to window, and it fly right past, and was then gone, went out of view so quickly as it was so low. I'll try and get a pic of the next one. I think my house must be on the flight paths or something, because its the third one thats gone over in about 3 months, this is the lowest one though, and it was on a slightly different flight path to the others. I also get Chinooks going over, and had a trio of apaches come over one day.
Write a letter to the government explaining that you own the land, so you damn well own the airspace for at least a couple of miles up, and if they return, they will be dealt with.
Harrier, then you can park it in the garage when not in use Or wildly fire an AK into the air, whatever works for you.
I second the vote for a SAM battery. Although that might be a bit expensive and more than a bit illegal, but who cares; mere technicalities.
We get all kinds of things flying low over us all the time - we live on the edge of the Brecon Beacons, which the armed forces use for training. There's also a bombing run not far away, so we often get jets screaming over only to have them come back 15 minutes later
Well, the new garage that we're building is going to be so over engineered that you could probably mount a couple of flak cannons on the roof of it, and then use it as a shelter when the gunship AC130 starts pummelling you, I only seem to get them coming over one way, they never come back again, be good if they did, might be able to get pics then.
We don't own any Spectres/Spookys, do we? It'll be the military equivalent of FedEx, then. I wish... Just stand in your back garden with a big bit of drainpipe on your shoulder with a loo roll taped to it at eye level. That should send 'em on their way...
My vote is not for REAL SAMs, but for highly realistic cardboard and plastic ones. See how long it takes to get a knock at the door
We frequently get helis over at home - over the summer, a couple of times when I was putting the horses out we had Apaches going over at ~30m. The horses really didn't approve!
Hell, 300ft, go get a .306 rifle and just take a couple shots at it as it flies over. Or..... you can mod a couple model rockets and attach some plastique to them.
I think you need to make the airspace above your house rentable, so the army pay you to fly over your house or just don't (which should lengthen your life expectancy)
