The Price is high for the movie. I wonder what the player is going to cost $400-$500 and your limited to 1080i if you dont have the a HDTV with HDCP the movie will not have all the crisp details you paid for. Only the newest tvs on the market have it so to watch the new movies with all the 1080p glory you have to be prepared to chunk out about $5000 to get everything need to make it worth while for the $30 movie. For me i going to wait till everything mainstream then maybe dive in(Most likly when DVD fades out). As for me the extra resultion will not benfit me much with my older CRT computer monitor and tv because they lack HDPC

The only difference between Bluray HD and DVD's release is the Television upgrade. When DVD first came out the players were about the same price as the new BluRay Players and if memory serves me correctly the first batch of DVD movies cost exactly the same ($30) a piece when it was first released. So I don't really see the basis on the complaint over the pricing, as VHS was released at around the same price, so was DVD.
BluRay disks will most likely remain at 30 a pop for the better part of it's first year catalogue, the price may drop once HD DVD's begin to compete directly. But knowing that both groups are trying to satify the studios they will most likely fix the initial prices at 30 untill the mediums second year run. I don't remember when DVD's began to drop in price but I'm sure it must have been around the second year.
All in all, I wouldn't mind paying $30 for a film, but the HDCP TV upgrade will have to wait untill a severe price drop untill then 720P or 1080i's good enough for me.
