Modding Blue LEDs emit UV

    Most L:EDs have a fairly wide range of light waveband - those look like 430nm blues so its sure to emit some in the 400nm area (hence gives that effect) Where a waveband is quoted it just means thats the area of teh spectrum that the majority of the light is emited - its why a UV/purple always looks fuzzy - the fuzziness is your eyes seeing light that is on the limit of your vision.

    This is interseting, not noticed it myself, does that mean blue LEDs can potentially harm your eyes?

    Not enough to worry about, you should be more concerned about the sun.:)
    Also, CCFLs emit more UV than LEDs(because they work by converting UV into visible light, and some UV always leaks out).
