linear I was wondering where you got your Nichia 3000mcd blue LED's also I was wondering if they were 30 digree viewing angle or the gay 15?

if you could point me to the exact link where I can get them online I would be very thankful.

I'm not cool with using the term gay as an insult like that (or even in a context where people may percieve it as one). We have a welcoming atmosphere here, and as a moderator I'm committed to maintaining that. Out of respect for everyone, I'm asking you to refrain from that sort of language. Plenty of people that frequent here are gay, and it's just unnecessarily disrespectful.

I got them from Mark Hannah Surplus, tell them I said hi. They are 15 degree, but if you aren't happy with a narrow viewing angle, sanding the dome will get you a wider viewing angle (macroman was the first one I saw do that trick).

i will respect your wishes and will treat the fourms with more respect.
I appologize and thank you for giving me the link for the leds.
these are the same ones that you used to mod your led mouse correct even with the 15 degree angle?
do you suppose that a 15 degree angle being more direct is better for optical mice?

I would use a narrow one for mouse replacement application, yes. Yes the Blue Nichia NSBP500S for $3 is what I used, there's one as a drop in replacement for the red, and one lighting up my wheel. :dude:

Linear, what model mouse did you mod? I'm looking at replacing the red LED on my logitech, was wondering if that LED you posted earlier would be compatible.

I also echo the warning concerning the term "gay" it really is not necessary to use insensitive derogatory terms, something I've noticed a LOT of young people doing. It's called "manners" ask your parents to look it up in a dictionary.

It's an OEM logitech mouseman optical. I'll get a pic up later of the unmodded mouse, I have another one waiting to go under the knife...

I'm not sure, but it should be fairly cheap. Definitely email Mark and ask. 20 LEDs can't weigh more than an ounce or two, but he does have a minimum shipping charge. I think my package was $3.50 S/H, but I'm in the US.

do those LEDs work well? I thought replacing the red with blue would slow the mouse down and other stuff. I'm a pretty aavid gamer, so if my mouses performance is gonna be diminished i wont even think of trying this mod

well if you replace the light with a blue one you have to use the brightest one possible with the most direct viewing angle 3000 mcd blue with a 15 degree viewing angle will work fine that is what linear used.
I used a random teal colored led and it works well but i am guessing it is somewhere up in abouts 2500 mcd.

for gaming i have another mouse that still has the red light in it.
no matter what that will be the most accurate.
so if you really want to mod a mouse go get a logitech mouse for like 30 bucks and mod that.

    Seth.

I've heard varying stories. My experience is that it works just fine, but I don't have my sensitivity cranked way up because I'm not a gamer. Plus I've been a ball mouse user (hey they were free) until I got this thing and don't have a lot of expectations about how it should perform. It works for me.

If you're careful, it's not an irreversible mod anyway.

    hmm true dat.
it is not fair for me to judge this situation until I get new batteries for my wireless mouse.
