Whats best Blue LED's Diffused or clear? I'm changing my computer and CD drive's LED's. Also thinking about making an external Fanbus....... Made out of clear plexi with blue LED's inserted in it. What would be best to polish the edge of the plexi? I will also include my PC's reset button and power button. And maybe at a later date a LCD. Does anybody know of any tuturials of an external fanbus?.................................

im guessing its pretty similar to a normal fanbus but with alot more wire :/

coz your taking the power from the computer.... to the fanbus...then back into the computer. could be interesting. GL

couldnt u just use a normally off transistor? hook it in line with the positive wire and switch 5v to it.

Diffused LEDs tend to be a little dimmer than clear LEDs, and the entire LED looks blue even when it's off.. As for the external fan bus, you could just take the 12V line off a molex, split it as many times as you need to switches, and bring the wires back into the computer. Then, you would take all the negative wires for the fans, and hook them up to the ground line on the molex.

an etxternal fanbus would be made the same way as a normal one. I would build a simple fanbus inside your pc then have the wires running out to switches externally. Then maybe get some of the black cable brading or spiral wrap to hide those hideous cables.

You could probably even use something like a serial cable or a parallel cable instead of just bare wires

For drives etc... I'd use water clear LED's because usually they have a light tube type thing to shine through, so you want a smaller angle (clear lenses don't diffuse as much = smaller angle)
But maybe for a fanbus you could get diffused LED's, I think they're easier to look at, because they're "softer", but of course not as bright.
