    Thanks Sleepstreamer, +rep :)

Just an idea... maybe there could be 2 files for each item, like a .dxf and a .pdf? the pdf being something similar to MNPCtech's templates so you can open them in browser and print directly. would be nice for those of us who just need templates to cut around :)

Is the above something other people would like to see?

This makes me wonder if there's a better, less specific, name for this collection?

    edit2: "CADCAMCOL"? CAMCompCol?! ModFiles? CAMFiles?
    BTW FYI BBQ: Software_that_supports_DXF

    +1 for DXF.jesmck.whateveryouwant.here. :D

I'd pass on CAM files. Everyone will have different uses/needs that would require customizing the CAM. (bits, material depth, position, etc.) It would have to be some freaky files for a CAM to be useful.

If there'll be pdfs aswell maybe "drawings.jezmckean.com" would be a more suitable name?

In any case, one thing I'd like on this site is some kind of rule that all drawings should be made using info you can trust (like Intels official pdfs for example), or they should be previously machined and tested. This is the reason why I cant use the sketchup library, as it could just be some guy with a ruler who made it in 10mins and then uploaded it without checking it thoroughly.

Indeed Sleepstreamer, that's why I suggested a comments/rating type system so if there is any bad or inaccurate files they can be flagged by the users instead of Jez getting a headache :eyebrow:

I'm keen to do the ratings thing - jQuery AJAXy thingy probably.

I wonder if there's a more obviously technical way of saying drawings.

    Why not call them templates?

'templates' is good, but still perhaps not techy enough.

    EDIT: man I sound picky!

I was thinking about that as well, but aren't blueprints for buildings though?

I don't know really, but after consulting Wikipedia it can refer to any detailed plan. Although you are right as well, the original (and maybe "true") meaning is for a architecture or engineering plan.

You got my vote on this idea! I'm currently designing component templates for CNC water cuts in AutoCAD 2010 and would be willing to contribute :thumb:

Any news on this? I've noticed the site is up, but it has the same content as the sketchup collection.

Progress can't be blisteringly quick I'm afraid - I have a job and a wife, and the take most of my time.

It would be great if you guys could start suggesting categories...

Well, I have a motherboard with the standard holes placed on it drawn up. Info taken from ATX specifications ver 2.1.

So I would have to suggest a 'Motherboard' section :D

I'm a bit late to this party, but .DWG doesn't change size on import as long as it's designed to the right size you need it. ;) We had a similar problem with your exported files for the Nvidia Cube, but I fixed it for Bill to finally work his magic.

    .DWG....food for thought!
