    Hello!

My PC is a bit odd. It bluescreens when booting, every time, but if I let it reboot (after it writes to memory) then select 'start windows normally' it boots, and is stable.

This is ever since I overclocked my ram.

    PC:
    evga 680i
    E6800 Extreme c2d @ 3300mhz (300x11)
    4gb (4x1) G.Skill HZ @ 1000mhz - 5-5-5-18 2T - 2.15v
    2 8800 GTX's (sli)

    Any ideas?

What's the message on the blue screen and does it do the same if nothing is overclocked?

had similar experience sometime ago and is still a mystery to me.

we suspect the DDR2 memory calibration during the first (cold) boot was based on slightly unstable power. So all subsequent memory data transfer that was based on that has higher error rate.

On your second (warm) reboot, the power and temperature would have settled and the PC startup RAM calibration would be more reliable.

That is why DDR3 has a RESET, startup and continuous tracking Calibration. They were introduced to deal with your problem. Because of the tracking calibration, we expect DDR3 to have more OC stability headroom.

    Could try
[1] up the DRAM voltage, or
[2] slow down the RAM speed.
    [3] Single-Channel mode.
    [4] Use only 2 DIMMs.

If your situation is similar to ours, a lot of the BIOS DRAM functions can't fix this problem.

It is also DRAM chip dependent. Some chips are prone to this craziness while others can compensate for this.
