    Hi, not too sure where to put this question, but here goes.

    This afternoon I had a customer ask if the upcoming release of Bluetooth v2 next year is going to be backwardly compatible with the current v1, before shelling out for a fitted handsfree kit, i didn't know a new version of bluetooth was being launched. So can anyone shed some light on this, is v2 going to be backward compatible with v1.

    Yes, the current speed is I think 700kbps, bluetooth 2 will increase this speed to 3mbps. That is basically it I think, I don't know a huge amount right now. As for backwards compatibility, I am pretty sure it will be, nearly every new version made is always backwards compatible. The max range however will still be 100m class 1 or 10m class 2.
