Hey guys, Seeing as I hold you in such high regards (up there with the Pope, Satan and Arnold Schwarzenegger) I thought I'd pose this question to you aswell. This is a copy of my post from The Mini Forum: Hey guys, Will hopefully be getting a new fibreglass Mk1 bonnet sometime soon (ready for MITP at the latest) and so far I've been having a lot of fun with my car in the looks department. Now seeing as I don't have any paint to match my current body colour I thought I could paint it something crazy! So, you decide. I should also be buying a Mk1 grille mustache and doing something 'different' with the grill, the tash will be painted black, grille having some sort of black and white combination. Anyway, enough of my blabbing, here's a picture of the car in questions to get your creative juices flowing. I've been thinking yellow Ninja edit: whatever you all agree on, no matter how whacky, I will go with! Doesn't have to be one solid colour, can be some form of writing, picture, anything (as long as it isn't too offensive) and bearing in mind I can't draw. Also, if it annoys the purists it will be fun too!
CHROME! But really, if the rest of the car is going to be black and white, (and assuming I understood you right), shouldn't the hood just be black? You should do a Gallardo Balboni style stripe.
Park in the centre of wherever you live, take a thick sharpie pen with you, and get random people to doodle/write stuff on it. Clearcoat over the top.
Using the straps for the front and having pins on the back of it, so should be fine! Cheers for the advice though! Don't worry, I did that to the engine block, adds at least 10bhp! Like the idea so far guys, getting random people to draw stuff on it was a thought that cropped into my head but you know the general public. Aside from your suggestions, we've had: I like the idea of the Balboni stripe, but I would have to have it the length of the car like you said and that is effort! Ninja: once I get a load of ideas, I will make a poll of my favourite then will unveil it on 15/08/10 (Mini in the Park at Santa Pod)
You could always get like tattoos airbrushed on it (monotonal colour, ofc) Any tattoos you've always wanted but could never have, give your car them
That's a wicked idea but I doubt I'd be able to do it myself and I don't want to pay anyone for it, want something cheap and fun. Know a couple of graffiti artists though so could use them!
Double post woo! My favourite idea so far, someone just posted on TMF, give it to a nursery for a day and get them to decorate it, then clear coat and hey presto! That's up there at the moment, that and a Storm Trooper stencil!
"Whaaambulance" in mirrored, red letters? Or maybe a smiley? You can never go wrong with a huge yellow smiley on a small car. <-- one of these. or this one
I love the nursery idea. Just make sure no one puts on a sticker of a certain bear afterwards, the combo would not go down well.
fack'n lol! Whaaaaambulance is a good idea, or ambalamps. The possibilities are endless! I will collate some of the best ideas and use a poll eventually. (lets just hope I win this bonnet on ebay! haha, I could use my current one I guess )
+1/2 for nursery and 1/2 for Ambalamps backwards... You know you're in good company when people laugh at it
