A book on the Supreme Court by Robert McClouskey. Dostovesky's Brothers Karamazov. A bunch of other books. College life!
I read Catch 22 before the book I'm reading now. It's one of those books where you're not quite sure what makes it brilliant but it is. The writing style is a little unforgiving but doesn't take long to get used to.
Catch 22 is a brilliant read. The unknown brilliance hit me with Invisible Man and anything by Joyce.
Just finished reading Sandkings. Holy hell that was the quickest hour of my life ever. George R. R. Martin sure can write a short story.
Just finished Breaking Dawn. Come at me, bros. (It was actually the best in the series, I thought. Almost no gushing romance and substantially more attention paid to vampires and shapeshifters and how they'd go about fighting each other en masse. Also a third of the book is from another character's perspective, breaking the endless vapid tedium that is Bella Swan's mind.)
Not long finished The Daylight War by Peter V Brett. Wasn't the best in the Demon Cycle series so far, but I did enjoy reading it. Currently reading The Ambassador's Mission By Trudi Canavan.
On the last of Spike Milligans 7-book memoirs from his war and post-war years. I've never laughed out loud so much. A must buy for anyone with a sense of humour, especially if you like it sideways.
Inferno - Dan Brown. An ok book. I recently read Ecko Rising by Danie Ware. Awesome sci fi read. Next book comes out later this year. She is busy writing the third one now. I know this because I have been in contact via twitter for sometime prior to the books release. She also runs Forbidden Planet Twitter/Facebook feeds.
I finished Dan Brown's Inferno a week ago or so - wasn't as bad as I was expecting it to be This past weekend I re-read my fav Stephen King book - Insomnia. Just love this book. Now started re-reading The Name Of The Wind (Patrick Rothfuss).
Same, I got about half way through and was thoroughly bored Seem to be on a roll at the moment Just finished re-reading almost the entire Discworld series on my Nexus (love free e-book rentals from the library). Just missing Eric, the last hero, Snuff and the science of the Discworld series. Also, slowly re-building my collection of Dresden Files on the Nexus from the Play Book store (just finished Summer Knight). And I'm currently reading Stephen Kings Tommyknockers.
I just love the way he see's everything slightly and hilariously different from anyone else. Not to mention the down-to-earth descriptions of life at war. I'm not sure the innuendos are old school, I think every joke in there is so off-the-cuff and sideways that it makes you laugh wondering how you never noticed it before. Each to their own though..
Suggested reading order? I've read the first 3 riftwars last week, just finished Prince of the blood and started Bucaneer - what would be the next logical step? Another great read, Silentium - Greg Bear (Halo canon) fantastic read. As well as Prince/King of Thorns, excellent writing style and feels very personal. And anything by Sanderson and Brent Weeks.
