So I have nearly finished all of the David Gemmell books. Is there anyone who writes as well as him?

I did, back in English class when I was 16, and again for myself when I was 20. Required reading for everybody, IMO.

My wife's just finished reading it, and I read it again a few years ago...it's interesting how much of what George Orwell wrote about has actually come true, although not in the same way that he envisaged.

Let's face it, most politicians use a form of double-speak - I'm just waiting for David Cameron to use the phrase "double-plus-ungood" :D

Haven't read 1984 personally, [definitely didn't do it at school... didn't do *anything* at school]...

Currently reading Hitch-Hiker's Guide to the Galaxy, up to 'The Restaurant at the End of the Universe' [Book 2/5]

I told my mom to buy me a book and when she asked which I remember my neighbour / friend telling me The Name of the Wind by Patrick Rothfuss was excellent, so I picked it up based on his recommendation. Haven't had time to start reading but I will probably get through it before I finish book 6 of the wheel of time.

    Firestarter, by Stephen King. Again.

I'm in this weird fugue state with regard to reading where I can't tackle anything more complex or demanding than easy/hack novels. The last book I finished before this was Breaking Dawn :worried:

I think my brain's given up on me, to be honest. I tried to read Tolkein and it just went "HAHAHAHA- no."

I finished The Name of the Wind in 3 days of serious reading and I loved it. I picked up the 2nd book in the Kingkiller Chronicle which is Wise Man's Fear and I'm already 100 pages in and enjoying it.

I assume better than the film?

Not that it was bad, mind.

Update: Finished Wise Man's Fear in a week (read it a bit slower) and loved it. I can't wait for the 3rd book in the Kingkiller Chronicles, which will most likely be released in 2014.

I also finished book 6 of the wheel of time and have started book 7. A few months ago I went on a spending spree and bought numerous books from many fantasy series so I have a lot of things to read once I finish up with the wheel of time.

Never seen the film but Tom Cruise does not fit the character described in the books!

    Worth a read :thumb:
