I paid £2.99 for it in a discount book shop, which I'm sure Frankie would be overjoyed about. Still, it could be worse - Lance Armstrong's book was only £1.99...
Getting good deals on books in Germany, especially when looking for English books, is pretty tough. Our local book store, in a city of 30,000 people, sells exactly 0 English books. Next city the biggest book shop has a 1m wide bookshelf for English literature, most of it vampire crap left over from the Twilight rage...
The Girl Who Saved The King of Sweden. It's a very easy read, and, quite frankly, hilarious (to someone that grew up in a country that was part of South Africa for a long time, at a time when some of the book takes place)
It is a fun read, isn't it? Read it myself in May last year and I really liked the ideas behind it, even though I personally thought the first part of the book was the stronger one. Recently finished books include: Joe Hill's The Fireman, Gaiman/Pratchett - Good Omens, Cixin Liu's Dark Forest, Alan Moore's The Bouroughs (1st book of Jerusalem), Michel Houellebecq's Submission, Ben Aaronovitch's The Hanging Tree. Right now I'm reading Sleeping Giants by Sylvain Neuvel which is just a masterpiece.
I picked this up purely at random a few months ago - I'm glad I did The next one in the series comes out in a few weeks - I can't wait!
The Bone Clocks, and a short novel set in the same world, Slade House. Also read Tigerman by Nick Harkaway, which of course is as awesome as his previous novels The Gone-Away World and Angelmaker.
I know. And as I already said in the Latest Purchases thread I already ordered it as paperback and signed first edition hardcover. And two days ago I actually bought Sleeping Giants as signed hardcover because I am slowly growing my collection of (signed) first editions.
Delete, by Paul Atkinson. Billed as a design history of computer vapourware. Looking forward to this one!
And I just finished Sleeping Giants... If ever there will be a hype train for this, I'll be the engine driver. Damn, that was one of if not the best book I've read. Ever.
Just finished: Tracer (Outer Earth series book 1) - Rob Boffard Zero-G (Outer Earth series book 2) - Rob Boffard Impact (Outer Earth series book 3) - Rob Boffard I enjoyed these a lot. Rob Boffard is able to describe an interesting world with a very good cast of characters. The action is fast and urgent. Recommended. The Three Body Problem - Cixin Liu This was my first encounter with chinese sci-fi, and I must say that it did whet my appetite. I will start the next book in the trilogy (Dark Forest) as soon as I am able to find it, and then I will definitely pick up the last book in the trilogy as well (Death's End). The Three Body Problem has just finished filming in China by the way, and is set to release later this year. Looking forward to that one as well.
