I maybe way off the mark here but I am looking for some bookshelf speakers for my PC to replace my 2:1 logitech system. I want to do away with a sub completely and was wondering are there any decent bookshelf speakers designed for PC?
Depends what you mean by bookshelf... but the Creative Gigaworks T20s are punchy little things without breaking the bank. They do have an external powerbrick though. I use their big brothers, the T40s and have done for a few years now. No complaints at all.
I have found these, seems to be exactly what I am looking for - http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=SP-003-ER&tool=3 Can anyone confirm whether I can connect these directly to a x58-ud3r GIgabyte motherboard? Thanks
Yep, they come with 1x 3.5mm to RCA lead. Will fit in the green audio out socket on the board and connect to the speakers with the RCA connectors by the looks of things.
Thanks going to pick these up. Hopefully they are better than my logitech Z523 (which are actually fantastic speakers)
forget PC speakers get an amp and some Tannoy V1 or F1 if V1 are too exspensive. cambridge audio make OK cheap amps. There are always some good deals to be had at richersounds.
Cambridge audio + KEF would be some nice set. Be carefull with monitors, they are PROXIMITY speakers. Which means that the sound will degrade rapidly if you are too far away from them (more than 1m), plus long listening sessions will tire your ears. If you go for the monitor route, I'd take some KRK or the Audioengine mentioned by Lysol.
