Hey I have a question...my DVD drive seems to be a bit borked, and I'm trying to install Vista. But it's not going anywhere...

Is it possible to copy the entire CD image to a spare HDD, so that it boots with the computer, and installs off the HDD? I can copy the contents to a drive, but, it's not booting :wallbash:

There's none that I know of, the way it boots off a CD/DVD is different to a HDD.

There is a way but it invoves that you use the command prompt.
You copy the CD onto your HDD and then hunt through the i386 folder (now located on your HDD) for winnt32.exe

Once thats done it should then fire up the install procedure.
Its been a while since ive done it but it can be done. I had an ultra portable toshiba once and that didnt have a DVD dive at all!
