My wife and I are moving out of the country in 6-12 months, on a permanent move, and we're redoing our systems into laptops as we can. In my last job as a technician, I scored lots of laptop parts, not what all we want, but enough to certainly make an impact in my decision, and I was wondering if I could find chassis that could take our processors (AMD64 939 and Pentium D LGA775, respectively) so we could save even more.

The 64,000 question is should I do this (and paint them me own self) or should i buy boutique? If I buy boutique, who should I buy from? I favor Alienware (me loves the pretty) and as she wants green, I want white, and we both want fast as hell, we figure these are our two choices.

Dell, after being a technician for so long, is a didn't run.

    Parts I own-
couple of 40-60 GB laptop drives
3 GB total of laptop DDR1 and DDR2
    Pentium M ULV 1.3
    2 DVD/CDRW drives
    3 Broadcom 802.11 B/G miniPCI cards

Better to do that, and augment a bought one or just roll my own?
