Cocky little git - not only does he scam you, but then taunts you about it. Throw the really heavy book at him IMHO. From the beeb:

Police have issued a warning to users of internet auction sites after a teenage fraudster conned eBay customers to fund a luxury lifestyle.
The 17-year-old from Pontypool, near Newport, built up £45,000 in various bank accounts by offering goods for sale that did not exist.

He treated himself to weekends in New York, and hired stretch limousines for nights out with friends.

He also bought designer clothes, expensive gadgets, and a quad bike.

Cwmbran youth court heard that, when police raided his home, they found top-of-the-range computers, hi-fi equipment, and flat-screen TVs.

Gwent Police have now issued a warning to users of internet auction sites to make sure they use make use of security measures to avoid losing their money.

They want buyers to use secure ways of paying and to follow safety advice given by the sites.

Detective Constable Steve Thomas, who led the investigation, said it was sometimes difficult to monitor security on such sites, and some people had not received property for which they had paid.

I hope they lock him away and throw away the key.

Yea, some people make mistakes, but 85 total offences is a little ott. A few years in jail for fraud would do him nicely ;)

Ebay scams suck, and the scammers deserve worse than the law allows :wallbash:

Would the people that were screwed be concerned why they were screwed ? No ...

He should be awarded the heaviest sentence possible - If he is let off with nothing more than a slap on the wrist, its just asking for trouble. It will just encourage more people to do the same.

It's the lowest court level that can jail the brat for longer than 6 months, AFAIK.

i think a nice prison sentence would be good for him.

Hopefully they can give him a nice job picking up soap in the showers....

The thing is though because of his age the chances are not that much will happen despite the fact he obviously deserves it, I mean thats £45,000 worth of, for a better part hard earned, cash and this little shi*e scams it off people!

hes just a kid, let him go with little more punishment than giving back the money he took and maybe a fair bit of community service. this is only being looked at with such fierce eyes because it was such a large sum of money, and i know how much rich people love their money. the kid did this for kicks, he did it so he could have a good time. teenagers do stupid things all the time for fun. did you know that some underage kids get drunk/high and then go driving? they get into car accidents and kill people. and even they only get a slap on the wrist in most cases.

but this was tantamount to the most heinous of crimes - stealing money!! so we have to lock him up and throw away the key, castrate him with a rusty object, torture him to death!!!!!! please...

a long prison sentance wont do anything but ruin him as a person anyway. and when he gets out he'll REALLY be a problem as he will have learned a whole new batch of tricks (much worse than a bit of internet fraud). taking away his youth for one (really really stupid, mind you) prank is a little steep. the focus here needs to be about reform, not revenge.

He's 17. Whats the rule over there, is he old enough to be tried as an adult? It's 18 here (I think). Where's his parents in all this. Where the hell did they think he was getting the money from? I know if my child was getting stuff like that I'd be finding out what the source of money is.

At first I wasnt going to agree with you but when you said the truth about people getting drunk and killing people it made perfect sence. Whats the impact per person of a couple hunded dollars spread across a ton of people, or the impact of a dead family member? Money can be replaced, people cant. And often the people are in jail for not long enough.

£45,000! That's serious fraud, and not even from some large corporation (not that that's any better) but from normal people like us on the net. Its not like he's a bloody pick pocket.

The crime is what is important, not the amount of money.

He should be locked up, ket thrown away and castrated with a rusty object to discourage others from trying the same thing.
