So I bought one of the newer model WD Mybook World Edition's to use as a cheap NAS less than a year ago. And since I've bought it I've had frequent connection issues where the drive would have to be rebooted in order to be accessed. Now, as annoying as that is, I was willing to live with it; but today I was watching some movies and it suddenly disconnected (which never happens when the drive is in use). I figure it just needs to be restarted and all would be back to usual. Apparently not, because now when I restart the drive it just flashes the LED. After some googling it seems the drive is bricked (and WD tech support was absolutely NO help).

The entire point of this rant is basically to ask if anyone has had a similar problem/knows an easy solution, and if not to get some recommendations for a good NAS box. At least 2TB capacity and obviously with gigabit ethernet. I'm open as to whether it's a pre-assembled job like WD does or if I buy the drives and do it myself as long as it works.
