I watched the Britain First documentary on bbc 3 last night, i found it very uncomfortable viewing. Just a bunch of failures and trouble makers. No wonder why there is so much hate in the world nowadays.
I missed it, what exactly was it about? If it's your usual run of the mill "dissolusioned" "far right" "benefits" type documentary, i'm not surprised it slipped my radar.
Seeing as we're in the serious section, we should get serious. You're right. The "scum" cause way too much strife when it comes to global harmony, but is there a reason why they are dissilusioned? I operate on the assumption that: if X people believe something is wrong and Y people believe it is right, And X > Y Something is probably wrong. So why are there so many people with these far-right views, outspoken attitudes and methods of conflict resoultion that would shame a drunken scottsman?
"Si 50 millions de personnes disent une bêtise, c'est quand même une bêtise" --Anatole France (If fifty million people say a foolish thing, it is still a foolish thing) Certainly there are many unhappy people, with many causes for this, but that does not mean that the causes they attribute to their misery are the correct ones. People are not rational like that.
Spoiler You'd think if they were going with an irish stereotype they'd at least learn to spell Seamus properly
It's not disillusionment, it's out-and-out racism hiding under the banner of disillusionment. Don't forget that the leader of BF, Paul Golding, threatened to bury a pig on the building site of a new mosque in Birmingham. There's not really any other way of hiding what that is. Unfortunately, the rise of groups like BF is just Daily Mail-ism at work: foreigners at at fault for all of the country's problems, because it's easier to blame someone else than it is to admit that it's all our own fault
Yup: you can get off your ass and make something of your life, or you can sit on your ass thinking up reasons why you can't. To many people the latter always seems an easier and more attractive option...
Not sticking up for those people, but isn't that what their doing? Getting up of their ass and doing something, unfortunately it's widely viewed as the wrong thing You would think after thousands of year we would've learnt that violence and conflict rarely get results, yet it still seems the go to response when people/counties have disagreements.
Nope, they are just arsing around. They're having fun, really, being in their little club. And nothing validates your outlook on life than sharing it with likeminded people.
Did anyone see the front cover of the telegraph today? "Time to put Britain First" It was almost like free advertising.
IDK it didn't seem like fun or arsing around when i watched the program, the lingering thought i was left with is what sort of life is it to be forever looking over your shoulder, forever in fear of your life. @Parge, You mean this... http://www.pressreader.com/uk/the-daily-telegraph/20151009/281487865177907/TextView Having read it i think it was a bad choice of headline more than anything as i don't think it is talking about the far right wing Britain First "political movement" (can it even be called that?)
To some people who feel fundamentally insignificant and worthless, being persecuted makes them feel that they matter and are important. It's why some of them sign up to extremist groups. So yeah, to them, this is the life.
I didn't see the programme, but I wonder if the people who are a part of these organisations are more likely red rag readers. I don't know for sure, but I thought Daily Mail readers were more the type to soak up written drama, rather than be extreme about it themselves. A bit like some of the armchair warriors banging on about their socialist ideals?
And I thought that the idea of people being self-motivated to better themselves would appeal to an ambitious positive thinker like you.
I just finished watching the latest episode of Click. Every new invention, any new world advancing invention, that there is my kinda motivation, that is my kinda ambitious positivite thinking. I can't really add much else to this conversation can I? I must lose my mojo and then come back
