Hi!! im new in this forum and i have a problem with my new laptop, its an acer extensa 5620 and had the vista home premium but downgrade it to windows xp 64 bits, but i cannot find the driver for the network controller i think it is for the broadcom bg, because the ethernet its working fine. do you know what can i do? PLEASE HELP!!! or if you know where can i find all the xp64 drivers that i need... this things arent installed: Mass storage controller Modem device on high definition audio bus network controller video controller Please help!!! -Yaz
I've had a bit of a google around, and about the best page I can find to help is this one - check to see if that's what your hardware is actually called on the laptop before you try and install, but that looks right to me. The Acer support site doesn't seem to specify 64bit drivers for a few things. p.s. That is a typo in your post, isn't it? It's a 5620, not a 6520?
Go to Broadcom's website and download their "Broadcom Wireless Utility". It'll adjust to your Acer laptop. Works fine on my Acer Ferrari 4005WLMi which originally used some weird ass Acer drivers, but a quick switch to Broadcom's utility made it painless, better reception and it seems to recognize and auto-connect to WiFi networks a lot faster than Acer's drivers or Windows Wireless Wizard.
hey thanx for the answers, im gonna try now... hopefully i cant get that done.... hate knowing there is something with my computer.... Hey Krikkit, i went to that page, but some of those are for the vista and I have the XP 64 bits... would they work... well we'll see...... I'll post later!
I tried everything and still nothing, do you think my computer doesnt have the drivers for the XP 64 bit edition? because there are a lot for the normal xp.... what do you think?
I found one driver that was for xp64 but told insert hardware now... but when i bought the computer they didnt give me anything... what should I do... Im really sorry for so much ignorance but this is my first time doing this... sorry
the network controller that i cannot find has this hardware ID PCI\\VEN_14E4&DEV_4315&SUBSYS_E003105B but the only one that i foudn was for the mac, what does this mean?!?! im going crazy here! Ok I still have nothing but downloaded 09.802.11b+g-Broadcom V4.100.15.7 for XP x86(WHQL) and did something but now appear CONEXANT SETUP API and found new hardware wizard...
Try downloading and installing the Broadcom Wireless Utility, available from the HP Website http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/genericSoftwareDownloadIndex?lc=en&cc=us&softwareitem=ob-41617-1 It'll work for most/all Broadcom 802.11a/b/g based wireless NIC's. Worked fine for me.
I tried but cannot download the softpack because this is not my laptop, i dont have the password or anything and that one runs automatically....
