I did. Although I cheated, I used a heat gun to melt the chip off the board and the IHS off the silicon. I'm currently polishing the goop off the chip.
that's already done :F http://metku.net/modgallery/detail.php?id=767 I made one of my own from OLD memory stick. And oh I also grilled 2000+ Palomino few months ago.. It really sucked a big time. I don't actually know to this day what went wrong but I blame combination of MSI-MoBo and smoke-grenade-noiseblokker-fan-"controller" (read: resistor)
Here is mine that I made about a year ago, sorry for the uber low quality my camera on my phone is the worst.
I made a ring out of a old 21" crt monitor, gotta say, the chicks dig it. A tad inconvenient though. Bling bling
Keychain CPU....hmm talk about a growing market, if AMD's or Intel's managers looks at this thread, they will start considering making these. ) ): ))
lol zmodder! I have had a similar incident except my heatsink was superglued a cpu. My neighbour tried to help out by wedging a knife between the 2. It popped out while showing me from his window. it wouldnt hve been so bad if he didnt live on the 4th floor! oh well a P4 in the bin!
man, now i want a processor keychain. , wonder if i have any spare sticks of rRAM laying round, a RAM keychaion could be cool.
You think superglue was bad, try a customer using velcro to attach their cpu to the heatsink, no lie..... Cheers, WarriorRocker
i recently accidently bent almost half the pins on my AMD 3500+ by dropping it. Oops! I spent over two hours straightening every single pin by hand with my nails. I'm so glad it works...
I found that for bending pins back carefully sometimes a mechanical pencil works like a charm, just be careful no matter what you use
wow this is from a while back, i got another cpu that i tried to drill but oh man is ceramic hard to drill my crappy 6v drill drained outta battery and it barely left a scratch on the chip. I like the idea of leaving a few pins and soldering it but it doesnt look as good.
Dremel. Get a pointy grinding stone and grind through it. I sent a drill bit into something once some chip I don't remember the it started glowin glowing ... I think?. But I like the soldering idea. Let me go buy a G5 mac and get a Quad core keychain suckus.
