I've been having a problem with my browser locking up when I load bit pages. I've narrowed it down to only happening when the Vista ad (30 days) loads and what seems to be happening is that my browser locks until the animation in the ad finishes. I'm using Opera 9.20 for Ubuntu. Is anyone else having this issue?
I can't say I've got good news. This is an external ad campaign, served to you via a third party ad serving company. As such, getting modifications is difficult. Add in the fact that it's only running for another couple of weeks (as opposed to a long-term campaign). Then consider that your config is niche of a niche - only 1.1% of readers use Ubuntu, and only 5.3% of browsers are Opera. We pride ourselves that the site itself is extremely cross-browser compatible but I'm not even sure I've got a rig to simulate your problem. As sucky as it is, I can only advise to hang in there, or try another browser if you can
Probably. I know there is a program for that for FF, but never tried it with Opera. Even if I don't use it here, it might be worth knowing how to do.
I thought adblock was a native tool for Opera?! http://mtsix.com/articles/2006/08/opera-9-ad-blocking.html
