heay guys, im having a problem with my pc, when enabling SLI it either crashes to bsod or recovers from a driver stopped responding the last happens with vista. the bsod is telling me in xp that nv4_disp stopped, and vista 64 bit what i currently run recovers with, nvldmmkm.sys stopped responding but has recoverd. in single gpu i have 0 problems at all. i have tried many things since im experiancing this problem and already costed me too much bucks, things like getting new case with better airflow, new power supply, new ram.. nothing seem te help, all hardware tests say my hardware is good. what could be the problem of this? i searched alot on inet, for many solutions, like turning off driver singing, register edits with the tdr settings, switching out nvldmmkm.sys with newer ones. i tried litterly all drivers i could think of for my grapic cards and chipset, i also tried all availebale bios updates for my motherboard.. to give more insight in things, my system specs > amd athlon 64 x2 6000+ asus crosshair nforce 590 sli. corshair ddr800 6400 c4dhx 2x 2gb ( 4 gb total ). asus geforce 9600GT/hdmi with asus glaciator cooler. antec truepower quattro 850W. antec 900 gaming case. western digital caviar se16 320GB. samsung dvd rewriter. almost bought new stuff for everything to get full performace out sli, and it never worked normaly. please any tips and help appricaiated
Welcome Do you have SP1? or at least the KB patches (KB936710, KB938194, KB938979, KB940105 and KB945149) for SLI issues installed? Latest chipset drivers? If you have a creative sound card, see if there are any updates for the drivers you have - there was an issue with them, nvidia cards and 4GB or more of RAM. Alternately, take the 2 9600GT's back and get a GTX260 or a Radeon HD 4870.
yes its SP1, i also downloaded and installed "important" updates from windows update, crashes where before those and after those. ive got the latest chipset driver recommended on nvidia website, 15.01 i dont use a creative sound card, i use a sepparate soundcard that comes with my motherboard, on the card is printed asus supreme fx, installed as at this moment high definition audio device, vista did this and i got sounds so didnt messed with that yet. i read about some problems the asus driver gives. what u mean exactly by nvidia cards and 4gb of ram.. what kind of problems are these and is there a work-around for that ? i dont know if they supply'er will take both cards back as one is older, like 3 months, and thats out of the shops guarantie not good money back. the other one is barley a month old now..
KB936710, KB938194, KB938979, KB940105 and KB945149 are not in windows update normally. "there was an issue with them, nvidia cards and 4GB or more of RAM." - them being creative cards. this doesn't effect yours.
those files u posted are 32 bits, i tried downloading and installing them all, but all say, this update doesnt apply to ur system.. so i already got the updates, or i need 64 bit variants of them, but when i look at the discription it doesnt really specify what it contains other then improving the use of second grapich cards, so its kinda hard looking for the same 64bits version of those :S
well small update: i flashed a newer bios, to vers. 1001 i installed other chipset drivers from asus site 9.35 i installed beta drivers with good feedback for video 177,79 and even before i opend a game or benchmark to see if its working i get the popup again, nvldmmkm.sys stopped working and has been recoverd. im going nuts.
