    hey all,

couple of questions that im struggling to find answers for

    1. does the BT homehub rely on its MAC address as internet login credentials ?

    2. if so can i use a draytek vigor 2710n to spoof the MAC ?

basically what i want to do is replace the crappy BT homehub with another router either a draytek or netgear. The reason for this is 1 BT homehub is crappy and 2. it has several issues with sonos.

id rather replace the router than have to daisy chain the network and use the bthomehub as a modem only and a draytek/netgear as the router only.

    anyone done this before ?

Just request your credentials from BT, I work at a VoIP company and we have hell with BT routers.

Commonly swap them out for drayteks, or Thompson tg585's.

    No MAC validation,

    sweet good to know

ive had issues with sonos on sky routers too and they use mac validation but their T&Cs prevent you from changing the router !!!!!

ended doing what i dont want to do at this place and using a modem and separate router.

thanks +rep for speedy answer and informative

I replaced our homehub a few days after having it with a dlink router, due to a couple of issues we were having with it. Requires a little stepping up but nothing difficult. It works so much better than the homehub ever did.
