Hi wondering if some of you could help.

My parents got an ipad 3 and nokia lumia 820 for christmas and birthday respectively and neither are able to use their btconnect email successfully.

ipad: Can reveive email but not send email, using a variety of settings from bt customer support it either says ...rejected name.lastname from server or ...rejected name.lastname from server as server does not support relaying.

Lumia 820: can only get email via the internet rather than as a mail account (live tile) so you have to keep going online and typing in password which I am told is a nightmare.

If you need any specific details let me know.
    Thanks!

Are they connected to the their bt broadband when it rejects sending? If not you may need to change the smtp server to mobile broadband providers.

Yes, that is the default when you try and add the account.

Ok, default is normally 25 so maybe try that

If that doesn't work, put a tick in the ssl box

already tried the first 3 on that search with no positive results :( it is not a urgent issue as they both have laptops but I (being the house tech support) always get complained to for their gadgets not working "properly".

Have they been migrated to the new Office365-powered BT email system? The settings have completely changed from the old ones if they have.

Have a look here: https://myoffice.bt.com/MigrationLogin.aspx, on the right hand side it has instructions for setting up on various devices.
