I've been scratching my head on what to buy, I am after an active 5.1 system that will talk to the PS3 via the optical toslink (or is there another way?) and output 5.1 sound, and also be able to plug in the PC somehow and get 5.1 too, I guess that will be via 3 jacks or another toslink. Budget is 50-100 quid, is there such a speaker package?
I looked for one like this about 8 months back (was looking for a set that would allow my nephew to connect both his xbox and PC) and just couldn't find anything in the budget range - they all lacked digital input. According to Scan's website the Logitech Z506 (£75) is PS3 and Xbox compatible, but I'm not sure how it would connect, it doesn't seem to have digital optical input. http://www.scan.co.uk/products/logi...und-150w-rms-for-pc-mac-ps3-xbox-wii-and-more To get multiple inputs including optical digital you are going into a much higher price range - http://www.scan.co.uk/products/logitech-z906-51-surround-sound-speakers-500w-rms
Logitech Z506 works via RCA input for PS3, etc, so, it's just going to be a 2.1 speaker system in the end. If I am going to be spending 300+ on an speaker system, I may as well get an AV amp plus speakers for that price.
