I've been surfing GTA3Forums.com... there's been alot of problems with it :(, But, I've checked the system requirements and my system meets every one EXCEPT the graphics card (see my sig for system details). GTA3 requires a graphics card with at least 16MB on-board RAM. Any ideas what I could get? I don't want to spend an awful lot as this machine is getting OLD now...

Also, I have a ATC6240 motherboard, "The ATC6240 supports all Intel Pentium II/III/Celeron processors. It features 4 DIMM slots supporting a max of 1GB SDRAM, and a CPU Ratio selection of 3.5x ~ 6.5x.". The manual claims it has a 133MHz BUS, But apparently this motherboard can't accept coppermine chips... what can I do to speed this thing up?

check if the motherboard is AGP 2.0. If it is, then get yourself a Gainward GeForce2 MX400 64MB for £29.99 at http://www.komplett.co.uk.

If it isnt AGP 2.0, then get a PCI graphics card.

To check if it is 2.0, go to your mobo companies website, and check there.

GTA3 is one of the most demanding games i have ever run. I have to run it at 1024 x 768 so it runs smoothly. Specs in sig.

To be honest, As long as runs at 12fps or more at 640x480, I'm not bothered. I'm not fussy about the res, and to be honest, 1024x768 is not really a preferable resolution..

Also, I've heard bad comments about the MX cards.. would it do justice in games like Q3A, UT and Midtown Madness 2?

well for the price its will do its best, it does well tbh. If you want something a bit faster, you will have to go to £70 or more :( but the MX is a very nice card, I have run it with many games, a lot faster than your stone age intel gfx board mate :D

mx cards are not very good for perforance systems but it might be the best you can get.

Nah, MM2 ran at 12fps with this i740, and I could cope with that. I would like framerates of 25+ tho, but that's asking for a miracle with this type of system.

Hmm, I'll try the MX. I just need something to keep this machine going for a while, since my i740 has decided it doesn't support 3D graphics anymore

Get a cheap ati 7500 for about £60 or a gf2 ti for about £70 and that will play ok @ lower res for you.

The MX Geforce 2 I had was quite quick, but for GTA3 make sure you get the 64mb version fpor GTA3. Also invest in some more ram, you can pick up another 128mb for £15 atm, and it will make a big difference to the game.

Cruelinios - Komplett don't sell them for £29.99... They were quite expensive, Although I did find an Inno3D GF2MX400 64MB for £40 on dabs. What should I buy? I don't really want to pay more than £40

Adam - Where can I get 128MB more RAM for £15?

I wonder if my motherboard can handle a faster processor  probably not knowing my luck :(

Get the £40 one on dabs. You can get 128mb for £15 on komplett I think, www.cclcomputers.co.uk sell it for around that price. Another site I buy from quite often is www.xcase.co.uk, they offer bulk discounts and good prices.
