ok, so my mom has found the glory of internet spades, and chain smoking. this causes me to clean my case out every time she plays, because ive had 2 fans die already. my plan is to build a sff for the living room, to hook up as multi-purpose device, it must do the following *be a dvd player *use a 26 inch tv as a moniter *maybe record tv shows *prefferally run and amd+ati setup/ or which is easier socket A or intel 478? so my questions are: 1.what type of case should I get? 2. How do i setup the tv as monitor? 3. how do i record shows(not vital)?
a shuttle/tv out/software. If you want a semi-older rig on the cheap, i have a barebone shuttle with proc and ram (just add video, psu hdd and optical and your good to go). PM me if you want it, and i'll help you set her up too.
well i would advise an ATI All in wonder card, and a sb audigy card for audio. That way, there's no choppiness as the CPU struggles to render the audio, plus mom will have a remote that doubles as a mouse. THe recording software comes with the card.
