I’m thinking about upgrading my PC to something more suitable for my new hobby which is video editing using certain programs such as Resolve, After Effects, Photoshop, and running games like Star Citizen.

I currently have a Antec 900 case which i plan on keeping and was hoping i could use my GPU and Ram for the time being until more funds become available.

    My current specs are
    AMD A8-3850
    8.00GB DDR3 @ 666MHz (9-9-9-24)
    F1A75-V PRO
    2048MB NVIDIA GeForce GTX 960
    931GB Seagate ST31000528AS (SATA)
    111GB SanDisk SDSSDHII120G (SSD)

    I’m looking at Upgrading to
    I7 6700K
    Maximus VIII Hero

I’m just wondering if anyone has ANY IDEA at all if it's worth it? Would i be better off just adding more Ram and a better GPU or??

    Hi

The first problem is your new system will need ddr4.

The gpu can be reused and also your drives.

It would be a massive performance increase.

    Is your RAM satanic? 8.00GB DDR3 @ 666MHz (9-9-9-24) or a bit faster @ 1666.

If you weren't desperate for cutting edge, you could go Z97 and an i5 4670/90K which could re use your DDR3 RAM.
A Maximus VI Hero may well have a lot of the features you need at lower cost
You'd still get a good bump in performance for less outlay.

So in total for the CPU, Cooler, PSU, Ram, and Mobo it’s going to cost around £619 from scan! I’m happy with that!
