Either way the PDCAAS says I'm getting higher quality protein from my supplementation than you are from your foods.

I've never claimed that eating a huge amount of calories will make you some muscle bound freak. Also I didn't say I put on 3 stone of lean muscle, I said I put on 3 stone with relatively low bodyfat, how much of that mass was water retention, fat etc. is unknown to either me or you.

Also you can talk about how unhealthy it is to bulk / cut etc. yet you have no regard for the impact damage your beloved running is doing.

I'm going to be the bigger man here (lol, pun) and say you stick to doing things your way, I'll stick to doing things mine. I've met plenty of people like you in the gym and I'm sure you've met plenty of people like me. Regardless we're both aiming for same thing we're just going different routes and we can both argue till we're blue in the face about which one is better / more efficient / more healthy etc, but at the end of the day if it works... it works. It's pointless us arguing about it.

I can also see it will be pointless going into the studies of how sat fats can increase testosterone production therefore increase anabolic rate etc. etc. and the benefits of extra BCAA's from supplementation as you're too natural for that. So instead for the lulz :

I've tried supplements, and surprisingly to me, including them seemed to give the same sort of results as from including plenty of red meat, in an otherwise balanced diet.

I've seen guys successfully bulk up from sticking to either as well, the only advantages I've noticed with supplements, is that they can be cheaper per gram of protein, compared to buying red meat, faster and easier to prepare, and they are digested faster.

The only quick way I know of is to use steroids, I used to know a guy who bulked up with them, entered the mr universe comp, got busted, went through rehab, bulked up again 100% natural... I think he finished in the top ten IIRC... I forget his name, he was a big Russian, or Slovakian dude...

BTW, nice results Steve from CCL :thumb: That's very good for 8 months, you must have been busting a nut! Even though the rate of growth slows down as you progress, (typical diminishing returns like most things) you'd reach Statham size by ~3 years I reckon.

Unfortunately though, after all that training you'd only last 2 minutes in bed  :hehe:

Steve, one last point seeing as you criticise the running, which is completely misguided. The running is not doing me any harm, its doing the opposite of what you think its doing.

The running is the number 1 most important part of my training because it keeps my heart and cardiovascular system at a higher level than if I didnt train. It increases my aerobic capacity and stroke volume so not only can I can train at a higher intensity for longer, but blood is better circulated and can get to my muscles quicker. The running also makes me at less risk of numerous types of diseases and ailments: heart disease, diabetes, strokes, osteoarthritis, dementia, high blood pressure and so forth. My joints are also strenthenged which decreases the risk of injury when im training. And it helps keep me in a better mood in general and burns calories. So in other words, its an extremely positive activity.

The American Heart Association, the British Heart Foundation and just about every other health organisation in the world suggests people should be doing regular aerobic exercise, you should incorporate some into your workout also instead of criticising it.

Depends a lot on how you run, but I know many professional runners one for example has successfully completed IronMan and many other heavy endurance triathlons and decathlons or what ever they are. (Swim, Cycle, Run etc.) She has also blown both her knees out. But she still runs, lives for it in fact.

As I also stated, 3lusive (maybe you should read my posts :-/ ) I've just stopped smoking and started running... but I'm simply saying running as with everything else, has it's negatives.

Everything in life does they used to say passive smoking wasn't that bad, they used to say lead based products were aiight and not to worry about smashing asbestos up with a hammer.

I've no doubt there'll be something new we've not to do or should be eating soon but life's too short to worry about it all the time. Do what makes YOU feel good, fu** the rest.

Well I missed that part and still cant see where you wrote it. Anyway, well done quitting smoking. Yes find a training program that suits YOU, and not anyone else.

My only thought on training programs are their validity. As we all know most of the internet is full of ****. How would I know if I was on the right program and it benefiting me? Would anyone suggest hiring a personal trainer for a couple hours a month, if anything just to dispense advice?

    Thanks btw.

I know a couple of PT's who are REPS qualified, they're not always that clued up tbh. For example one told me he had just finished an AAS cycle and when I asked what he was PCTing with he replied "PCT?" *palm face* I haven't used any AAS' but I still know you have to PCT. (Not going to go into grave detail on this on here you either understand it or you don't)

Personally I find if you're happy with the gains you're making in the area where you want to make gains ie strength, mass, etc. then it's working for you. If you find you've been hitting the gym for 3 months and haven't made any gains.. It's time to look at what you're doing. At that point I would suggest speaking to a PT about where you may be going wrong.

Lol, dude's going to be smashing mice through his monitors at this rate.

Just found some slightly better pics of my back at it's biggest just to give you an idea of what us skinny guys can get, don't be disheartened by not having wide shoulders and a chest the same size as your waist, work at it and you can get the V you're looking for.

I was fat > lost 3 stone > stupidly skinny > then bulked and gained a stone over a few months when I really took it back to basics.

It can be done, skinny small framed guys can add a bit of bulk. I had no success for months bulking until I simplified everything.

    Eat more than you think.

    Keep the training simple.

3x6 of the following, last reps in each set should be a struggle.

Bench Press, Dead Lift, Bicep Curls, Eat repeat x1000

No homo, more like no colour lol. I like the fact that even though it's a BnW pic you can still see a clear difference in tan :p.

Grats on both the weight loss and on the bulk.

Tan? No ways. Blame photoshop auto contrast!

    They are from 2008. ;)

I'm far more relaxed about my personal appearance these days, turning 25 :sigh: seems to have that affect.

Steve, what does the serious mass taste like? I've used several mass gainers and all have tasted pretty dross. When I was laat taking protein supps I was using the ON straight Whey in strawberry but i swtiched it in favour of GOMAD for a couple of months. I plan on doing a combo of GOMAD with supps after my gym schedule resumes its normal routine and was interested on your thoughts on the product.

Make your own 'protein' drink, it's an odd recipe but works.

Milk + Dried Milk Powder + Milk Shake Powder (for taste)

Then if you do it in a blender add a banana and a raw egg if you like.

And before anyone goes on about the pros and cons of raw eggs, look up what Vince Gironda had to say about the subject of this and on nutrition and training, he was 50 years ahead of his time
