I've not had my Mac Mini long but I'm struggling to find out how to burn files to a DVD. I don't want to create a DVD of my family holiday, wedding or graduation or one that plays when it is put in, just one with some files on it. iDVD pops up but I couldn't see how to just put files on it >> I am willing to accept that I might just be being blind but nothing was clicking.
Method 1: Disk Utility > File > New Blank Disk Image In the dialog box, select the appropriate DVD option, select read/write and create the file. Mount the image, drag the files to it Use Disk Utility to open and then burn the image. Method 2: Create a Burn Folder in the Finder Drag your files to it Open the Burn Folder, select the Burn widget on the window bar. Insert media when prompted. Method 3: Finder > Help Enter "Burning a DVD" Follow the walkthough
Or buy an app like Toast or Disco. http://www.roxio.com/eng/products/toast/titanium/overview.html http://www.discoapp.com/
don't need an app :S just open finder and do the burn folder route. finder does this automatically for me, actually.
As do I (and Disco rocks, though I don't think I'd have coughed up the $30 they ask; I got mine in MacHeist for about five bucks which is quite worth it). But you can do it easily enough in Finder without spending anything, using any of the methods above. I generally only burn stuff from disk images, but used the burn folder for loose files until I had a standalone app. But I thought that the Minis only had a combo DVD/CDRW, not a DVD burner... You may also want to change what happens when you put a blank disk in. I'm not at my Mac right now so I don't remember the exact location, but I think if you go into the preferences of Disk Utility (/Applications/Utilities/Disk Utility), you can set the default actions. I almost never use iMovie/iDVD so it hardly makes sense for that to be my default for putting in a blank disk.
