Hi Ive just across the modding scene and a newbie so bear with me. I dont know if this has been posted before but I just wanted to know where the best place to get plexi from in the UK. Ive seen some in Homebase but it seems to be expensive and not much range. Thanks in advance Michael
If you're using it for building a case, then stay away from the DIY stores - it is extruded acrylic they sell, and is no good for this. I got mine from a local acrylic fabricators, you should try to get cell-cast acrylic as it easier to machine, and you will get a better finnish on it. Just have a look through the yellow pages.
I bought some 3mm acrylic sheet for just under £2 per square foot. Got it from a local plastics supplier. They sell mostly building stuff- fascia boards, guttering, etc. Cheers
local industrial estates are great places - you'll find all sorts of useful stores. for metal then scrap yards are superb - you can't agrue with 60 pence per kg
b & q sell various sheets of polycarbonate (like acyrilic but a bit harder). I got a 4'x2' 1/4" for about 15-20 quid, which works out to be about 2-4 quid a square foot which aint too bad...
One great place i found is http://www.yellowcatshop.co.uk/shop...tate=32769&tabcatid=3500106&subcatid=3500120.
Errm anyone know where i could find pictures of what each of the things would look like? Might see bout buying some from there... "10% student discount"
yeah the 4D model shop is a good place - they also have loads of other useful modding stuff like resins and tools etc.
