Well... unless I missed some feature in the description, this concept isn't new at all. Slim Devices has recently released the fourth incarnation of their "Squeezebox". I believe version 1 dates back to 2001. It is a wireless and wired (or wired-only) device that connects to a server application running on a PC (Windows, Linux, Mac are supported). The Squeezebox comes with a remote control and a large LCD for displaying song information and for browsing through the media collection. It features analog RCA and digital optical and RCA connectors, and a headphone jack.

I think you've missed the concept of CES - the Squeezebox maybe an old technology, but there's no harm telling people that there are new devices on the way too. Maybe it'll improve the competition for the Squeezebox and ultimately mean better products?
