I can't stand C-Media, their chips seem to have the worst sound quality ever, and their software is even worse.

Nooo their HD audio chip works great, and produces very nice sound quality. Although they dont exactly update their hardware reguarly and seem to be more expensive than the Realtek ALC solutions that every other board manuf. uses. If you get their "budget" AC97 option on a board though you might as well forget it and buy a £5 sound card, so I do see where you're coming from. It's been 18 months since CMedia released their HD audio codec though (im unaware if there's a new one), when the 925x was released.

I would guess that there's a new one on the way if they've signed a licensing agreement with Intel.
