Electronics cable converter help

    hey... i am new here but need immediate help. i have a scientific atlanta 8600 cable box (provided to me by my cable company)... i have to set up parental control on a few channels... anyone who can, please help withsimple, step-by-step instructions (<-- not demanding, just asking)

    Did you try talking to the tech support from you cable company?
    Or... How about Google

    if im not mistaken the 8600 is a dvr box used by time warner and some other companies. here is a link to a pdf file that covers setting up parental control.
    look on pg 33 and up. the regular digital boxes (non dvr) should be able to be set up in the same way. If the box askes you to enter a pin (and you havent previously) try 0000 they normaly default to that.
