Is this safe? I am working on a build for a friend and I am in a same boat unfortunately. What worries me is once I close that back panel and cable might melt or start on fire. The cable is too short to bypass CPU in anyway or make any curves. I am also planing on using Gelid Tranquillo to cool his 3.8~4.0Ghz down, but like I said it worries me that 8pin cpu power connector might come in contact with cpu back metal plate than what? What’s your thoughts on this?

Yep, those INSULATED cables are definitely going to cause a fire if they come into contact with metal (oh, say for example, any part of the case)

That looks fine to me, I think what you've done is fairly standard practice. As far as I'm aware none of those cables ever get particularly warm during use unless something were to go very wrong.

DroganuvHIN is just being a smartass, but as he points out those cables are all insulated anyway. :p

    Oh no he didn't!

That is perfectly fine, the wires only travel at most 12V. Not enough to warm up the wire, not even slightly.

The only problem is that it's going to be a pain if you change something in your case. But ignoring that, it's perfect. Just don't tight up the cable to hard, you don't want to squish the wires, just hold them

Thanks again. Stupid question, but does cpu back plate gets hot? Hot enough to start smoking wires? I never felt it or tested myself so yah...

Hot no, Warm, yes. Can melt wires, no.
But you want to let it cool it, so don't obstruct it with wires. Personally, I would make the wire go around it. But it should not cause any problem with the current setup.

Such things exist as 8-Pin extensions. Find them.
