my friend has a HP Pavilion Tx1000 laptop with vista 64-bit, he wanted to know if there is anything he needs to do to get COD4 working, but i didn't know offhand. does it?
thats a relief, my friend is pretty bad with computers and it's not like i can do it because he's in boot right now in great lakes.
would it be difficult to get it working with a wired 360 controller? my friend can't get his 360 shipped out when he's in his A-school, but his laptop is allowed. playing COD all night will remind him of home
I *think* he'll need to get the Xbox 360 Controller for Windows (there's a wireless version as well)?
yes there is a wireless version but.... doesn't he have a mouse ? Who wants to play an FPS game with a controller , ewwwwwww
beware , the XBCD drivers don't work with the wireless remote so you'll be stuck with the Z-Axis instead of triggers
Win Vista doesn't need the XBCD drivers (at least x64 Ultimate doesn't). PLUS, you can use wired AND wireless controllers. Just take note that the wireless ones need the dongle/usb bit that they should sell at any XBox retailer... but yah - COD4 on a PC with a controller???
kb/mouse is still better, but each to their own. Short answer: yes, it's possible, and your friend is not likely to encounter a whole lot of problems.
Are yes Vista 64 recognises the 360 controller right away, on XP you need drivers (even that might be wrong with SP3), sorry for not reading thread properly my gfx card broke last night *cries* :X
Yip - works out the box. Wow does vista see this ! Only problem with that is that i hate playing FPS's without a mouse .. One of the really annoying things about it with me, as i have a zboard, is that i have to re-map the bloody keys everytime i conect ot a new server, in multiplay - which to be honest has really put me off it.
