I imagine it's the use of the phrase 'gun-porn' that sets it off. I do not apologise.

Not really a good example when you considering SS2

I was reading a review for the new Saw 3D movie where it was described as "torture porn". How true.
I know someone who gets excited by that kind of gratuitous horror, and I have to wonder if there is a sexual element to his excitement.

so glad you guys didn't give it 90-100% like so many others.

The ingredients in this recipie smell wonderfully to me as a PC gamer, but the end result comes off a bit like a not so fresh burger from a van. I'm enjoying it, but the MP is so laggy at times and the graphics are meh compared to even CoD4:MW. I am glad that they tried so hard to make peace with us PC players, and for the most part I feel that they've made the right choices... even if it's not properly implimented yet.

Hmm i loved the SP of MW and MW2..Treyarch have always failed on this front imo though.

Although still undecided whether to get this..

    Milking the cash-cow.

Interesting review Joe, personally I don't think it deserves the 8 but then again I don't write for Bit-Tech.

    :p

The single player of CoD was always going to be a nobrainer tube-run, so what more can you even expect from it? Seriously? If it's action-packed, fast-paced and works smoothly it's a 110% match for my expectations.

Having read of the new MP-modes makes me really look forward to getting my hands on a sample.. Also the changes (less death from above, dedicated servers..) are all for the better. Despite all its flaws I did play MW2 to the max lvl, and if this fixes the most game-breaking of flaws, this might finally replace CoD4 as my MP-FPS of choice. Hopefully.

I suppose its easier to review if its only 5 hours long. I feel sorry for games reviewers of the early 90's -imagine having to actually play through and write a timely review of something like echo the dolphin! (did another finish that game without cheating?)

As did I, but at 5-8 hours/game you have to admit the focus has become multiplayer. The originals were stories with a multiplayer tacked on for a bit more playability, now it's a serious multiplayer with an SP (albeit a pretty good one) for good measure.

Same old COD. Modern Warefare was good but its all became very very stale now. Didnt buy MW2 and wont be getting this either.

Have to agree with Krikkit too. There are very few mainstream FPS's now that have finely crafted and engrossing stories. I really feel that COD has gone a step back in games development. Horrible graphics, dumb AI, respawning enemies, copy and paste story lines and a multiplayer with an emphasis on unlocking silly extras.

They might as well just release it as a MP-only game to be honest as I'm sure a lot of people don't even bother with it. That way they don't have to waste their time on it and they can make sure the MP isn't full of game-breaking performance bugs like this one is.

As for the MP content itself, it's a bit of a mixed bag really. The weapons all seem very balanced and the server browser is OK. The lag is obviously very annoying and the spawn system in most game modes is almost broken (it will quite happily spawn an entire team around you at times).

I don't think it could ever live up to the hype these games generate.

    £35 quid for an 8 or possibly a 7.

the problem with single player mode in these games now is they try and cram to much story into 4 or 5
hours of game play and their charging ten dollars more. bring back the games that had 12 hours or so of
game play and maybe they would be worth ten dollars more.

If MW2 had dedicated servers and some balance tweaks, it would comfortably dump all over BLOPS.

As it stands, it's an imperfect game, but I still prefer it to Commando Pro and killstreak rape.

Oh, and there's a single player?

    this.

if MW2 had dedicated servers, killstreaks that doesn't stack and a bit of balance tweak, i don't think any right minded PC gamer will buy BLOPS

So ignore the 13 year olds... turn your reso up so you can't read their font. Come onto a server that actually has admin's demanding people do a shush.

good luck, in a years time it'll be £29.99.

The MP levels are a mess, the weapons are naff, the map rotation is so screwed up it gave us the option of the same two maps for half an hour until everyone got bored enough to vote for the random map, which was one of the two offered already! The SP cut scenes are a pain in the arse and spawn killing is even worse in this game than the rest! IMHO the only redeeming feature of the multi-player is the rc explosive buggy and at least the selection of weapons is a bit more multi-national this time round. Boy am I glad i rented before deciding to buy
