im planning on building a compact cube case but that really leaves no room for a standard ATX PSU, so im looking into mini ones but theyre all like 200w/250w... would these be able to cope with the following:

    mATX gigabyte skt754 mobo,
    A64 3000 possibly higher
    1x SATA HDD
    Slot load DVD drive,
    Floppy drive
    a tonne o' case fans
    etc.?

any advice would be great ;) im not sure but i think the mini PSUs are like 250w but have the same power (or something) as a standard for these types of thing but not sure...

    Thanks :)

Well shuttle PSUs are only 200/250W, and everyone gets on with them fine, which would cover everything except maybe the tonne of fans... Although you didn't mention GFX? If you don't have a GFX card, then I expect it would work :)

EDIT: Ooops read the title :duh:
So to be direct, yes, but maybe not with all the fans :)

I would guess so. I hear ATI's cards aren't as power-hungry as nVidia's, so if the PSU can handle a 6800Ultra, then I would guess it can handle you 9800 and a few fans.

But don't take my word for it, please :worried:

The 250w Shuttle PSU should be fine for everything listed. Fans don't really draw much current.

I have a Zalman 92mm sitting here that pulls 0.23A.

    12v * .23A = 2.76w

As long as you don't go above 3 or 4 fans, you should be fine. Any more hardware, though, and you risk not having enough power.

Besides, there's Shuttles that get the job done with only 1 80mm case fan, with just as much or more hardware as you've listed. A couple of 92mm fans should be plenty, if you have a high quality heatsink on that A64.
