    Hey all,

Not knowing really if this is a critical file and after consulting the encyclopedia that is google i have decided that i can probably do without it.

Just wanted to make sure that it was ok to delete the thing as its taking up a nice 4GB of space on my C: drive which i could do with.

    Cheers

It's just a Dr Watson log file, don't see any reason why not.

EDIT: Have you tried running disk clean? Might even delete this file also.

:eyebrow: Your log file is 4GB? What the heck you been doing to your computer, torturing it?

YOu can safely delete that file. Dr. Watson will create another as needed, but not 4GB worth, that's for sure. :thumb:

4GB.... it might probably be saturating at that size.

i'd load up a good hex editor (or ASCII one that dosen't try to load the whole size of the file) and have a look.

I guess this could be a malicous program in one of 2 attacks, it creates the file, using that name so you don't delete it. or it cuases a program to crash loads, thus a DoS type attack is performed on the file. I had a google for this and found nothing. But 4gb is INCREDIBLY large. My main dev rig, which does a lot of *nasty* things to programs has never seen a log file of anything near that magnitute.

It amazed me too. Still i havent reformated this pc in about a year and i do use it 24/7. I picked it up while doing a defrag as it wasnt able to do it and i noticed it was a fifth of one partition.

Have since deleted it and nothing seems to have gone wrong.
