    I NEED YOU HELP!

I am planning to get my 2nd ever graphics card, and I need some advise on what to get?

The 1st card I got wat a Nvidia GeForce 6200, 256mb, AGP :duh:

I am planning to make my 1st PC and I am in search of PCI-Express. So far I am thinking about getting the Nvidia 6600GT 256mb, or a 6800GS 256mb???

What are your oppinions??? Have you got any other sugestions on a PCI-EX card for about £90-£140???

:thumb: Thanks for reading my 2nd ever thread :thumb:

The HIS X800GTO 256MB and 6800GS 256MB would be my recommendations.

Problem is that most of these have been snapped up, and the newer non-GTO2 ones don't unlock :sigh:

You can overclock the HIS one that I recommended by 100MHz and it'll still be in warranty. It comes with a very quiet and efficient cooler that will facilitate this without reducing the lifespan significantly :thumb:

Hmm, the GTO/2's are still quite good on stock speeds but if don't want to oc, then go with the 6800GS, then you also have the option to buy another one later on and run them in sli :thumb: (or upgrade to a 7800gt/x)

    EDIT:
    - X800GTO's
    - 6800GS

If you're getting an X800 value card and there is any question mark on whether it will unlock for you, or it'll work after that, then i'd recommend you dont bother with all that and get a cheap and cheerful X800XL. The price difference is minimal, and although it probably wont clock as high, its 16 vs 12 pixel pipes so there is a 33% bonus right there. In theory at least!

I have had a x800xl for many months and the performance is still excellent even in newer games. On the other hand, i havent looked into the 6800 GS, perhaps thats a better deal still. SM3 et al.

If you're not overclocking, get the XFX or Leadtek GeForce 6800 GS Extremes - they're nearly as fast as a 6800 Ultra as both manufacturers have overclocked to 485/1100MHz from 430/1000MHz. It's factory clocked at those frequencies and thus guaranteed under warranty.
