I'll be building an HTPC for my Dad at some point in the future, and XBMC seems like a very able candidate for a front end. I may install it on Windows XP, or I may install it on Ubuntu, I still haven't come to that bridge. What I do want though, is to make it so that everything can be done inside XBMC, and that includes web browsing, so ideally, I shouldn't have to leave the program unless I'm doing maintenence. A Google search only returns XBMCFox, which is an extension for Firefox itself. XBMC seems to have the facility to run programs, as there is an option to do so on the main menu, however upon selecting that option, it goes on about plugins and scripts, so I'm lost. So can I install programs like Firefox so that they can be accessed through XBMC and will also return to XBMC when it's closed down? Or better still, can I run programs within the XBMC interface? Please help Stu
Apparently theres a 'pimped' version of XBMC that included a web browser, not alot of info about though, and only seems to be available via torrent may be worth a look though
I'd say no as Firefox is x86 exe and it would need recoding... unless you are running windows on the xbox of course but XBMC aint windows. There are browsers for XBMC though....
I see. I've taken a look at the XBMC community forum and the develepors are saying no, due to the fact that they can't see why anyone could possibly want that. Strange.... Maybe there's a way that I can launch Firefox from within XBMC, then when I close the browser, it will return to XBMC where I left it?
